You have to compare PCs with TVs : both are boxes that you don't want to open, you throw away after 2-4 years, and you pay as little as possible for. Who cares if it has an AMD processor and Linux inside?

I bought my current TV in 1987. I paid extra for what were at the time advanced features. I'll buy my next TV in two or three years, assuming this one doesn't burn up, and it will most likely be a fairly advanced widescreen, probably digital.

Features are important to many people. Not everyone wants the cheapest they can get.

BTW, I like Linux. I run Red Hat 6.0 on one of my home computers as my internet gateway for my Windows 98 machines. Linux is not yet ready for the average user's desktop, even if preinstalled. It's too hard for the average user to administer. linuxconf is a big step in the right direction but still requires a lot of technical know how.
