Dale, I'd have to agree with you wholeheartedly. If MFNX doesn't tamper with the model established by Above, the combination could lead to what I would regard as something that would be a truly revolutionary combination.

I say this in light of MFNX's drie to become optically colocated in the ILECs central offices (such as the agreement with BEL last week), and Above's breakaway-like business model.

To fully understand this would require delving more deeply into Above's one-off kind of focus and business strategy. In short, they do not compete with the ISPs they serve, and their deployment of colo's throughout the world is focused on novel ways of delivering large volumes of optically-based capacity, at makes-sense pricing levels.

Their approach to private peering relationships, in light of the shabby conditions which exist at the network access points (NAPs) and MAEs (and other archaic meet points today) is already causing a revolution centered on the avoidance of the big five or six players (The "Club's") hegemony and rule of the Internet backbone.

Regards, Frank Coluccio

Dale, I agree that MFNX will gap down. My guess is it'll trade down another 10% from the open.

Tom
