John,

Re: I have pointed out again and again on this newsgroup how hypocritical it is of NATO to complain about the behavior of Yugoslavia (a non-member nation) when one of its own members, Turkey, continues to practice ethnic cleansing, genocide, and ethnic suppresion against one of its ethnic groups, the Kurds.

I'm afraid it's not a matter of mere hypocrisy but of pragmatism and realpolitik instead. Sure, there're the Chechenyans, the Kurds, the Palestinians, the Tibetans, the East-Timoreans, you name it! So what? What is your argument then? Do you mean that if the US superpower is unable to intervene and to settle ethnical conflicts EVERYWHERE then it should refrain from meddling with ANY of them? PEACE FOR ALL OR... NOTHING! I'm afraid that international politics is more subtle than such a Utopian across-the-board appeasement!

Do you sincerely care about these molested Tibetans?? OK: GO FOR IT!! Bomb Beijing! Melt Himalayas! Send elite airborne troops all over Tibet! But afterwards, don't blame the US for having triggered WWIII !! And don't spoof me about sanctioning China with a commercial embargo and all this wimpish BS!! Because if the US worked out a commercial embargo against China THEN your European models would be the first to teach you a lesson on HYPOCRISY since they'd rush to the Chinese market like a shoal of piranhas on a drifting carcass....
