"How
do people who can't read get licenses? People without advanced degrees? People with
IQ's under 200? I bet Marilyn vos Savant didn't get her license on the first trip. It's a
wonder there is anyone on the road. "

Our experience has been that they pay underpaid officials bribes. You might ask your buddy George W. how he plans to solve this problem before he goes gallivantin' off to spread his joy to the rest of the USA.

4th of July! Time for a raccoon family update. Mama Raccoon and her brood have a God Mother in residence. Monica has taken charge of feeding duties. Mama Raccoon likes to eat! She seems to find cat kibble in her empty pie tin by her entrance every night. She really likes seedless grapes. Sometimes she pulls the pie tin into the entrance underneath the deck. Today Monica was trying to drag the dish back out, using a grape cluster to scoot it along. As the dish cleared the entrance skidding up the slope towards Monica a human-like little black hand reached out from the dark depths and gently but firmly pulled the dish back. Monica nearly fell over backwards in fright!

Mama seems to be caring for only three babies now. The others are either missing in action or heavy sleepers that only come out later at night. They enjoy a bath everyday in their wading pool, then its off to a night of whatever suburban raccoons do. Occasionally we hear wildly exciting things happening in the dark on our back deck but in the morning all is normal. Life is good this summer, despite the funeral I had to run off to in San Diego earlier this week.

Happy Fourth Everybody.
