Sytron and Dorado Score Major Win Over HID

BROOMFIELD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 1999--Sytron, Inc. (OTC BB: SITR - news) and Dorado Systems Corporation announced that HID Corporation withdrew its request for a preliminary injunction in its patent infringement suit against them 10 days after Sytron and Dorado filed their response.

In February 1998, HID Corporation filed claims in United States District Court for the District of Colorado that Dorado's innovative new Universal Reader(TM) infringed HID's patents. Fifteen months later, and after dropping one of its claims for patent infringement, HID filed for a preliminary injunction to halt the sale of the Universal Reader(TM), claiming ''irreparable harm.''

On July 2nd, Sytron filed its opposition and evidence that Dorado does not infringe HID's patents. HID withdrew its motion for injunction within 10 days.

''HID's action vindicates our position,'' said Sytron President, Rob Howard. ''HID again refuses to resolve this dispute. HID may realize that their accusations are without grounds and cannot be proven. Certainly accusations are more useful unproven than disproved. We will now look at the possibility of recovering costs associated with this action by HID.'' Howard added, ''The court told them to file for a preliminary injunction immediately when they filed this suit, and once they did file, 15 months later, they did not have the evidence to see it through.''

Sytron announced in March that it would indemnify customers against any HID claims of patent infringement. ''With this retreat by HID, our customers should be able to see that HID only wants to scare us (and them) without any grounds,'' said Sid Smith, Dorado National Sales Manager.

Dorado's newest access control product, the Universal Reader(TM), can read the proximity cards from Dorado, HID and other suppliers, as well as magnetic stripe cards. This reader is the only multi-platform access control product giving customers more options for system upgrade, expansion and replacement.
