I'm also 54. I'm figuring on at least two more splits over the next six years. Two more will be enough for me; and I think that two more over that period of time is being extremely conservative. I believe that LU, being a new (and an old) company, like most successful new companies, has a certain lifespan during which a certain number of splits will occur (sort of like the lifespans and divisions of living cells). These splits will occur relatively quickly at first and then at a slower pace. Lucent represents a unique opportunity (in that it is both new, old, and an industry leader all at the same time) to participate in these splits. Unless you have a lot of bucks to start, which I didn't, splits are the only way to start small and end big. I intend on ending big. In my opinion, Lucent has an unlimited upside at a low risk level.
