Pravin, I agree. Although I think its kind of foolish of AMD to put their stock and shareholders through the ringer all day. Why not just announce the bad earnings last nite? I would think evryone knows by now AMD has had a terrible Q2, and it wouldn't have hit the stock on so much volume as it is doing today.

Of course, there is also the possibility of a K7 delay announcement as well. This uncertainty is what's causing many people to sell today, imo.

RE: <The CC will be to announce very weak ASP and high inventory for the quarter, and that earnings will be worse than expectations. That should be the last bad news before the K7 launch.>

I wouldn't be surprised if they also tack on a short K7 announcement saying that small volumes are shipping to certain OEMs and that there will be no more K7 announcements until OEMs are ready to ship in August or September.

On top of all their usual problems they are facing a major product transistion which is always difficult for even the best company. Somehow they've got to sell K6x during the next N months even though those products lose all sex appeal due to K7. If they don't sell K6x then Q3 loses will be astronomical since there is no way that K7 shipments can amount to much during Q3. Q4 might be good but K6x has to pay the bills in Q3. So expect the lowest key announcement for K7 that you can imagine.
