Good point about the cash CPQ may be getting for Altavista. Supposedly will be in the $3 billion range, almost enough to get CS. In the fall of '97. Gary Korn documented CPQ's interest in networking (on the ASND thread), though the VP in charge of that has since moved on. Still, it makes a lot of sense. CPQ and CS must see a lot of each other in their customer accounts, especially with the DEC connection. Sure CPQ's stock is depressed, but buying CS might be the move that would get the industry's attention again. Hard to see anything they do making things worse for them.
