dave,
nec! enough said there right? ok.
hitachi is one of the 10 that is scheduled to be in major drdram production by the end of the year. could never figure out how they would manage it. consolidating with nec is a great way. we have predicted that some dram mfrs would either consolidate or drop out due to the cost of switching to rambus.
hitachi does not need nec for anything except rambus. hitachi can produce sdram on their own. the only reason for them to get with nec is rambus. the advantage i see to nec is cost sharing and a market for nec's rambus production. hitachi has a huge consumer electronics division.
consumer electronics?? hmmmm! let's stay tuned here.
in case you don't have the list, the 10 are
fujitsu
hitachi
hyundai
lg semi
micron
mitsubishi
nec
samsung
siemens
toshiba
is that not a perfect 10 for rambus?!!!!!!!!!!!
