Buchanan could certainly hurt GWB. Surely in the past he has shot himself in the head several times and so running alone will see nothing of the support he has seen in the past. But should he join with a sufficiently "moderate" but hard headed candidate (Ventura) via which he reinvents himself as one able to compromise, then he will siphon off a decent amount of support from GWB. Buchanan makes an awful lot of sense to many folks on the right as it is, and few can turn a phrase like he can. With Ventura he will catch many on the right and also the entire cynical, hyperignorant and angry contingent, the members of which hardly vote but who because they are terribly attracted to the likes of Ventura would vote perhaps for the first time.

The problem with a Buchanan/Ventura ticket is it simply will not work. It looks goofy and is "Culture Clash" defined.
