Anybody can prognosticate about what the fed will do, but the fact is that the fed itself doesn't what it's going to do that far in advance. In a recent testimony before congress, Greenspan said the fed FOMC doesn't decide that far in advance- they make up their mind using the most recent information. Despite only having one vote Greenspan as the chairman has unusual power. He can set the meeting schedule and decide what to talk about. He controls the allocation of internal resources. Unlike some other members he has great respect for markets.
