User Review of Net2Fax by: <Picture: Sorry, I'm not available> fromBermuda (M/Bda) 85102 of 85106Yesterday I downloaded the software from the Net2Phone site for the newly announced Net2Fax product, and provide the following comments on the product: Download was straightforward with no problems. File size was a little over 5 megs. Product installed without incident, and was reasonable easy to use (although I did consult Help a few times to get out of some dead ends). Note: You must have a Net2phone account and credit in the account to use the fax product. Although the software is a full fax manager for receiving as well as sending, the receive dodads have been deactivated, providing send only capability. You can send directly from Word or Excel (you can include images, text, spreadsheets whatever). One simply hits File,Print in Windows when you have a document in final form, and in your Print window, you see a new destination called FaxPrinter which you select and then hit ok. Fax then shows up in the Outbox and you simply pull down a name in your Fax Address Book , and hit Fax Send. Window shows status of ‘connecting' and then shows when successfully completed. Extremely easy to use. Sent a two pager to France which would have cost me about $3, and my Net2Phone balance was debited with an 8 cent charge. (Continued..) User Review of Net2Fax (part 2) by: <Picture: Sorry, I'm not available> fromBermuda (M/Bda) 85103 of 85106Fax received in France within 2-3 minutes (ie no delay or queuing) and was crisply clear and described as better than my ordinary fax. My conclusions: Very suitable and usable product. There are no niggles like ‘echo' or ‘latency' which some have knocked the phone product for. The thing is easy, crisp, and is ABSOLUTELY better than printing off a copy and running to a fax machine (no jamming, no skipped pages etc) not to mention the more than 90% cost saving versus Bermuda telecom rates. I will probably use this for ALL my fax activity, since there is no longer any reason to dance the old fax machine tango. (Note:for adding a handwritten signature, I believe I can do this with a small digital file which I can scan and add to documents requiring signature, and receiver will not know any difference. Will report if I do this successfully). In short, this will definitely add incremental telecom minutes to the IDT/NTOP network, so it Must be viewed as good news….. So the stock goes DOWN on the announcement!?!? I can't figure out the crazy price swings on this stock.. Also don't forget: Europe is way behind North America (2-4 years) on email penetration, so there are still several good years of ‘obsolete' fax traffic to capture. It is also an incentive for someone to try Net2Phone as well, since one account runs both. Very good strategic product functionality. Welcome any comments from other users. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Posted: 06/23/1999 04:16 pm EDT as a reply to: Msg 85102 by fromBermuda View Replies to this Message
