This is not a customer service story. It is also not a slam at DELL - it is just a case in point on the difference between DELL's current integration capability against the "gold standard" which is IBM global services.

BTW re: maybe the client was undesirable for any number of reasons..marginal credit risk or what ever...
The company in question, although not large, is quite solid and has a good relationship with DELL, who provided all of their computers. DELL certainly regarded them as a desirable customer when it came to buying $200K annually in DELL hardware.

The response of the DELL organization is exactly what I would have expected given the state of their current capability. CPQ and HP might have done a little better, but not much - neither company has taken their service capability and targeted it at smaller businesses. No one is in the league of IBM in this capability.
