Did you hear that Gore has now promised free child care for everyone. How dumb are the people if they believe this? Who does he think is going to pay for it? R

I'm so old I voted for Nixon the First time he ran. I did NOT vote for him the 2nd time, after carefull reading the New York Times everyday (because this was the only place to get info then). The media did a honorable job in the way they handled Nixon and watergate. They verified, verified, verified before making accusations. Nixon left kicking and screaming, he did not have any grace or think of the good of the country. Nixon was a huge obstuctor of justice (remember the Friday night massacre of Elliot Richardson when he wouldn't fire Cox?). (And the fake binders that supposedly had transcripts of the tapes?)(and the 18 minutes) (and Mitchell) and (Agnew)

When Nixon got accused, he didn't say "Let's go to the tapes, they'll prove my innocence". We would have never known about the tapes if Butterfield hadn't exposed their existence in the hearings.
I point our that your demonization of Clinton is not logical if you look at this in the historical perspective.
You are way too emotional.
Why is this? You waste so much energy.

What Clinton did (with Monica) was despicable. Having said that, if he'd done it in a private (non-government) place, it would still be despicable although "merely" an error in personal judgement and conduct. The fact that he did it while conducting government business on the phone makes me angry.

On his testimony, I still can't believe he & his attorneys used that "it wasn't technically sexual relations" bs line! For pete's sake, did anybody not laugh at THAT?

And, yes, perjury is still a crime. No matter who commits it. I have to agree with you there.

But Nixon?

> Even Nixon had the decency to resign when he sullied the office. <

He only did when the handwriting was on the wall. Period.
