Re:"Synchronicity" - I believe that it's a Design Automation Tool compamy that sells a synthesis tool. Such tools allow you to specify a digital design formally in a high level language like VHDL or Verilog and then create the netlist for a targeted FPGA from Xilinx or Altera. For those not familiar with digital design, it's one of the companies that play in that space, others being Synopsys, Exemplar, Cadence and Mentor. As I recall, their claim to fame was an unusually quick tool.
