(Nasdaq: TMCS) and American Express (Nasdaq: AXP) today announced "Get on the Net," a new program that offers small- to medium-sized businesses a cost-effective Web site solution. Under the program, which is currently being piloted, American Express merchants who purchase a custom CitySearch Web site will receive a free Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) OptiPlex G1 computer. This unique combination of an effective Web presence and a free computer to access the Internet gives American Express merchants an easy and affordable way to establish their business online. With a CitySearch Web site, merchants can list products and services, take orders through their Web sites, securely process transactions and ship orders promptly. The merchant Web sites are prominently placed within CitySearch's city guide network that provides live event ticketing and editorial information about restaurants, movies, local events, recreation, travel and shopping. The continually updated city guide sites integrate content with transactions and allow consumers to act on their purchasing decisions and get things done online.
