Thread ----some insight to OFFICE 2000 sales :Microsoft Corp.
Dow Jones Newswires -- June 23, 1999
DJ Microsoft's Office 2000 Generates $8.8M Rev In 1st Week

RESTON, Va. (Dow Jones)--Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) Office 2000 product generated $8.8
million revenue for the retail and mail order industry during its first week of sales, according to a
point-of-sale research company.

The business software, which costs between $499 and $999, began selling in stores June 10.

In a press release Wednesday, PC Data said Microsoft's product accounted for 16.5% of total retail
software industry revenue for the week ended June 12.

Retailers offered discounts and rebates on other software products if purchased with Office 2000,
accounting for $6.7 million in revenue for the industry, or 21.6% of total sales for the week. Office
2000's release therefore boosted retail software sales 26.9% for the week compared with the
previous week.

Overall, unit sales were virtually unchanged from the prior week, but revenue rose 28% due to the
Office 2000 launch, PC Data said. Without Office 2000, revenue for the week would have declined
from the preceding week.

Trust me, RTev, when we get some serious news in the market, we can get the conversation focused on more substantial material matter. In the mean time we all might have to put up with the gaming aspects of the Market of late.
