American Wagering Launches Telephone Wagering System PR Newswire - June 23, 1999 10:18 LAS VEGAS, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- American Wagering, Inc. (Nasdaq: BETM) today announced the launch of their Secure Telephone Operating Platform (STOP) for the Nevada Sports and Race Book market. STOP is the only secure telephone system approved by the Nevada Gaming Control Board that allows the placing of wagers over cellular phones in addition to conventional home or office phones. STOP screens calls for eligibility based on jurisdictional requirements set by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Technology used in the STOP system screens phone calls, including cellular, to determine the location of the caller. It is the only system approved by the Nevada Gaming Control Board for the use of cellular phones to place a wager. The system screens the incoming call and if it meets the geographic requirements that the call is originating in Nevada, the system passes the call on to the Sports book for processing. If the call is originating outside the state of Nevada, the call is terminated. American Wagering has launched the product at its chain of Leroys sports book operations and plans to offer the service to other sports books interested in obtaining the most technological advanced secure telephone wagering system available. Commenting on the launch of the new product, American Wagering, Inc. CEO Victor Salerno said, "STOP is one of the new products we have been working on in our CBS division. We have always prided ourselves on being the largest provider of sports and race book equipment in the state of Nevada and part of that reason is because we are constantly investing in new technology and new products. STOP is our newest product and we expect to be announcing more technological advanced products in the near future."
