Here's my two cents....... on COMS.

They should sell the NICs to INTC and be done with them.

They should also sell off the modem business - keeping the Dial Servers.

They should focus more resouces on enterprise and edge routing where margins remain strong and continue to partner with as many industry leaders as possible.

They should turn their developers towards the core and hire the necessary people to make that happen...this would include building on the telephony products. They should also invest heavily in their sales and marketing in this area.

Go to more contract manufacture.

The should spin off 20%-30% of Palm Business to the public - keeping the remiander a subsidiary which operates autonomously.

FInally, after these moves they should reduce the workforce accordingly (no NICs, no modems no manufacturing).

The result will be a higher margin machine. Yes revenues will be lower..but only for a short time if the investment in sales and marketing (targeted at enterprise and edge sp) is completed appropriately.
