Compaq's problems were foreseen on this thread and elsewhere by more than one person despite they lack of reporting by the analysts. CPQ's ability to hide its problems for a number of quarters due to their channel model is a continuing source of concern.

So here is another heads up fro the thread. CPQ's balance sheet does not really look that good. Toss out all the smoke and mirrors in the balance sheet and what you will see is a company that is headed for a lot of receivables and inventory writeoffs and ultimately cash flow problems as the contra revenue kicks in.

Selling AV for cash makes a lot of sense to me. Selling it for stock doth not make much sense. CPQ will have increasing difficulty selling the DEC Alpha products to corporate America when they are perceived as a supplier in distress. Their PC desktop and notebook businesses are likely to be underwater as they will have to pay the retailers and distributors to take their products.(the channel is not happy with CPQ ) Their server business suffers from the same corporate image problem as the the DEC Alpha business. So CPQ is headed for big time operational losses.

Good luck to all the CPQ camp followers.....

Just my opinion.
