S3/Dimd deal is a great deal- provided you are short SIII or DIMD, or long any of their competitors...they get 18 months- tops- before they are 6 feet under.

Sun: long NVDA? If the stock falls in half, it would have tdfx's market cap...if you want to buy it at a deal, I would suggest it first fall 75+%. Shorting it now would probably be very profitable.

NVDA is screwed. Nobody but CREAF can buy them, and they are tightwads...they'll wait til NVDA falls and falls- while still buying NVDA chips. If somebody comes along and makes a deal, then they will assess the situation and make an offer. Otherwise, they'll wait it out. NVDA is one superior short candidate!

Meanwhile, TDFX looks to have a shot at getting back into DELL boxes in a bigger way. And unless Micron wants to live with S3 chips, they are going to have to break their relationship with DIMD...

Pat,

That cgreview interview has me thinking more and more there will be no geometry acceleration in the next part. That's the second place I've read someone from TDFX say geometry acceleration isn't worth it unless it is significantly faster than the main CPU.

It doesn't make much difference to me, as long as the next part is really fast and has the mainstream features. What's your take on this?
