it might slow the rate of increase - a little... i doubt it reduces output, though...

Keith, Nope, because Hitachi and NEC have always been in these other chip businesses and because the same amount of equipment now produces more chips. NEC is increasing their DRAM capacity by 150%, according to their announcements, though I don't expect Hitachi to increase by that much. However, Hitachi is very strong in the Embedded DRAM research, so expect a new, additional capacity, slew of competitive products from that area over the next year or so.
