TREASURE HUNTING
Check old prospectors cabins in case they left a poke of gold behind but be carefull they may have also stashed some blasting caps.
At most gold mines, even the isolated opnes, a few of the boys would do a little highgrading. They would hide some VG samples just in case, but they didn't always get a chance to retrive them. First check around the mine or bunkhouse for hidden stashes then try out of site of the mine or bunkhouse but within a short walking distance. Or at their favorite fishing spot.
For artifacts check the old portages with a metal detector. Also get a real good magnet (mine is 200lb pull) and try off the portages or by old docks. Even off of existing docks is fun, you may not get artifacts but you will get all the bung wrenches and fish hooks you need.
When I prospect, I prospect for everything that may be out there.
