Compaq Acquires Rights To Altavista Domain compaq.com Compaq Acquires Rights To Altavista Domain HOUSTON, August 11, 1998 - Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) announced today an agreement with AltaVista Technology Inc. (ATI) of Campbell, Calif. to transfer to Compaq full rights to the AltaVista trademark and domain name, www.altavista.com. The financial terms were not disclosed. Under the deal, ATI sells, transfers, and assigns all of its rights to the trademark and domain name to Compaq. ATI will transfer to Compaq the altavista.com URL within 30 days and notify all third parties of the change to its Internet address. This agreement supersedes all previous agreements between ATI and Digital Equipment Corporation, which was purchased by Compaq in June.
