George, KJ et al.

My impression from having been around IBMers for over 10 years is that inside the company, they consider themselves weak in the storage division. Problems with proprietary systems(SSA)and early problems selling Escon(they are pretty slow), though I if I remember they use something called Ficon to speed it up by 5X certainly does not make IBM a Storage Gorilla in my opinion. It seems they haven't even put emphasis or alot of energy into the storage battle in 15 years. Am I wrong here?
Maybe that is changing now for IBM as Storage is headed for explosive growth, but in the past IBM just has not done that well in that sector. I'm not sure who has to pull that wagon to make it go. Brocade or IBM? Who knows maybe IBM goes on a buying spree like they did a few years back with Tivoli and Lotus.
