I know, but I had a somewhat different reaction, really. I mean, it so surprised me that he succeeded in establishing the club, even though the school tried to block it and there were no teachers willing to be associated with it. And of course they were harassed; but at least they weren't physically assaulted. It used to be worse. Your basic half empty/half full situation! I had my hair pulled out in bunches, leaving bald patches. Gum rubbed in it. Fights. Name calling. Muttered promises from Mrs. Ellis and Mrs. McCabe, I believe it was, that I would be burning in hell some day. I didn't have it half as bad as the Jewish boy did, though. Talk about a tough childhood.
