This is only a rumor. Report is CPQ selling Alta Vista for 2 bill or so. Will have 4 bill cash for an acquisition. First rumor I heard was CS. But who is the only other bigger networker left to buy? And who owns the #1 handheld computer system which could put CPQ in the driver's seat in terms of cutting edge hardware. COMS. CPQ will buy COMS and can afford to, in cash.

Disclaimer: This is only a rumor and I just started it. Still it sounds logical to me. Anyone else?

PS: Who else wants the Pilot so bad they could kill for it?
MSFT? But they're competing and hate AOL. ATT? They just spent everything on cable. Sprint? Nokia? Or back to CPQ. Maybe in combination with Siemens? One thing I know. Today's action will put more pressure on COMS board to take the next good offer they get. I have a feeling they've turned several down hoping for a better deal and more value. This may force them to make a deal soon. Right?
