Then your father would enjoy the story of the ANGLICO unit (he'll know what that was) in the Philippines who posted a sign for the Generalissimo's inspection:

"With the help of God, and a few Marines, MacArthur returns to the Philippines."

He had them booted out.

The Marines your father served with were probably the 1st Marine Division -- Enpress Augusta Bay or Cape Gloucester). It was also 1st Division that landed under (before) him at Inchon, in 1950. MacArthur was CINCH Southwest Pacific. Nimita was CINCH Central Pacific, also CINCPAC and CINCPACFLT (which included FMFPac.) Command of South Pacific moved from Nimitz (Guadalcanal) to MacArthur (Cape Gloucester, etc.).
