Maybe it's just AMD's way of establishing the Athlon product line by starting it off with low prices. But that wouldn't make too much sense, considering its initial low volumes and possible high demand. And unless I'm mistaken, low supply and high demand should translate into high prices, right?

On the other hand, remember that AMD's purpose is to cause maximum damage to Intel, as opposed to creating maximum profits for shareholders.
