Since there is a disagreement [about church-state separation] we should put it to the vote, not try to figure out what people long dead wanted or didn't want.

I agree, we just might win that one.

But, if you are really serious, I have to say that I do not believe government by referendum is the way to go. Just think of the things that could be imposed on a minority (not always the same one) by the majority!

My New International Version declares that "God detests spiritists and mediums". When I was a churchgoer this gave me no end of guilt since I felt lost wearing a Large.
