I understand from Tom that the symbol change was required because of the name change to eConnect, per some SEC or NASDAQ rule. Very routine. In and of itself, the symbol change is not meant to represent a change in the company, or have strategic significance. It is simply another element of changing the company name to eConnect; which DOES have strategic significance, because it reflects the fact that we are more than "just" Internet gambling (and thus may make it easier for some Wall Street types to invest in). I am not aware of any effect that this will have on the "shorters"; but we can still hope that it does, as you put it, put yet another "glitch" in their plans.
