State-run RTS Serb TV reported that an attempt was made on the life of Italian Foreign Minister Lamberto Dini during his trip to Kosovo on June 23. According to the televised report, Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) rebels shot at Dini while in Kosovo. The anchorman said the KLA was trying to frighten Dini because Italian peacekeeping troops are actively protecting Serbs in the town of Pec. RTS showed what it said was CNN video footage of the attack. The RTS report has not been independently confirmed. stratfor.com
