Pham, back in April Westell released this announcement. I wasn't sure then what to make of it. At supercomm it became clear that one of the big things now in DSL is that it can be made to carry 16 voice lines via IP. Westell was already into this in this release: biz.yahoo.com Tuesday April 27, 8:02 am Eastern Time Company Press Release SOURCE: Westell Technologies, Inc.Westell Signs Pact With AudioCodes for Development of New Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) DSL Integrated Access Device Communications Portal(TM) Enables Integrated Voice and Data Services Over Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL) AURORA, Ill., and YEHUD, Israel, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Westell Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: WSTL - news) announced today a partnership with AudioCodes in the development of an integrated access device (IAD), the Communications Portal(TM). The Communications Portal(TM), expected to be available in the third quarter of 1999, will deliver multi-line voice, fax and high-speed data over a single copper loop using Digital Subscriber Line (DSL). AudioCodes is providing a four-channel voice over packet processor for the Communications Portal(TM), which, coupled with a DSL multiplexer and gateway, will provide end-users with a combined solution of high-speed data and above-toll quality voice services. .... ****************** CopperCom is devoted to developing technologies for voice over DSL. In the list of partners you find Txn, Intc, Ala, Flowpoint, Copper Mountain etc. but no Westell. Westell I presume is therefore using its own resources to develop this technology. If anyone has a better understanding of the, (like maybe DR.TECH) please feel free to jump right in. I'm just guessing. All the best, Michael
