I can't believe everyone involved in this is so incompetent. If you are going to unwind a deal you have to unwind everything that happened and some folks are going to be pissed but the goal should be to harm the fewest number of people. I probably would have suggested that the stock be halted, then figure out what to do i.e. have the underwriter enter the market and buy back all the shares with the proceeds - would have been cleaner than the mess they have now.
