Fred,

I tryed to get some interest in discussing GNET last night (post 8219) but only one taker.

I watch CNNfN every morning and they said there still appeared to be market jitters about the interest rate increase next week. I don't get it because we have a good idea of the worst case scenario (.25 point increase) and it is already factored in to the market valuation. As a matter of fact, an analyst (Charles Leiberman) said the market is already priced on the basis of a .50 point increase. So why all the jitters?

On the bright side, another analyst (Peter Cardillo) said that tech stocks are the place to be. He said we are just in a waiting period and as 2nd quarter earnings come out (which the analysts believe will be better than expected) the sector will take off. He commented that with the impact tech staocks are having on lowering productivity costs, it is the sector to be in.

Hi Fred, you are welcome to start any discussion you'd like!
If you look back on the thread recently, there are an enormous amount of informative posts. Since this is a big day for GNET, we are just having a little fun. Who knows, maybe we will be #1 on the SI hot list today. Although that is not why we are posting the list, it would be fitting for today. Make sure you read NotNeiderhoffers post reporting on the Paine Webber Conference.

I absolutely agree with you Fred.

Let me add that the Long-list is Stupid. I mean, come on, give me a break. Find another way to cope with volitility people or get out.

Chris

<<While I appreciate the bonding that the Longs-list signifies, couldn't we do this via PM and avoid the posting inflation that the subject creates? Every time I check my bookmarks, I think something is happening by the number of posts on GNET....but NADA!!! >>

Well Fred, how about this:

My opinion is regards to the gigantic run-up is that unless the split is immediately followed by some earth shattering news, savvy investors will likely be able to pick up GNET shares at a discount tomorrow. I think the stock will also probably drift lower until news directly related to the broadband strategy starts leaking out. I wouldn't be surprised if you could pick up a few shares in the $64 range (post split) within the next few days.

For those not holding a death grip on their shares and who like the play, I would sell a portion of the pot in strength this afternoon and buy it back during the next 7-10 days or so. Market indicators are still pointing down and I am convinced the Street has not yet fully digested the anticipated 25 basis point rate increase.
