George,

All the more surprising when when you realize that his reactions are misdirected. What he invariably characterizes as strategic errors have usually been tactical blunders. He may be upset by what he calls failed strategies, but they really mostly reflect failed execution on a timely basis.

On a higher plane, anyone who three years ago had a strategic plan in telecommunications whose details aren't radically different today is effectively out of business whether (s)he knows it or not. All Murphy can do is set a strategic direction and take advantage of opportunities as they arise. Hell, that's all AT&T is doing, except DCI is a ringlet on a very curvy tail. We should judge DCI on it's ability to ride the waves and move ahead, however torturously, and not expect it to be able to make the waves or to part them.

All of us have personal agendas that intersect and intertwine with our stocks' rises and falls. It's just that some of us are better able than others to maintain an appropriate distance between the two and not blame one for the other.
