Granola, not likely from what I gather."Possible, but not probable".

... An acquisition of an ISP is not likely, Dell said. Instead, the company would be more interested in partnering with local telephone companies........

In its 17 year history, Dell has not yet acquired a company, the spokesman said, calling the chances of such a plan, "possible, but not probable."

"Watch this space," Dell said.

granola...ot

mindspring recently acquired netcom....imho,i'm not convinced that pc makers buying isp's and following the cell phone model is beneficial to anyone except the consumer. at the risk of again being accused by the irrational zealots on the dell thread as being bearish, borish, delusionary, smoking or not smoking something, speculative and conclusive(whatever all these vacuous comments mean from the equally vacuous posters)...i concur with you ms granola that it would be a drastic direction shift for dell...but with all the talk about auctions,koop.com,free isp, free computer...anything is possible, but it would be a far cry from the successful focused business model to a more shotgun style of management...i'd prefer pc's,servers, storage and service....let someone else lose on the retail front...await your always pleasant response..ed a.
