Re: Powertel

Voice Stream/Omnipoint (VSTR/OMPT) merger just upped the ante. They have a big hole in the SouthEast where Powertel is located. Nice premium being bid for these companies:

Re: Powertel

06/24 11:26A (DJ) +DJ Powertel, Aerial Commun Up On VoiceStream/OmniPoint Deal
Story 3572 =DJ Powertel, Aerial Stk -4: Smaller Cos In Consolidation Warburg Dillon analyst Condon said that if Powertel, which reached a high earlier Thursday of 32 1/2, is taken as part of the GSM consolidation, it willbe a $36 to $40 stock.
In addition to major players, the consolidation seems in line to include smaller companies such as Alaskan company Cook Inlet Region Inc., which made an investment in a joint venture to be formed to acquire OmniPoint's entrepreneurial licenses.
"VoiceStream will use Cook Inlet to acquire other entrepreneurial blocks,"said Robinson-Humphrey analyst Walter. "Cook Inlet will be the acquisition vehicle for VoiceStream."
Because of legal restrictions, VoiceStream is prohibited from buying certain licenses. Cook Inlet owning a majority 50.1% stake in the venture company will bypass those restrictions. VoiceStream will hold a 49.9% stake.

Mobile Communications is the place to be, stockwise. It's a whole new medium for the Net to flourish. While Net stocks have been getting killed, names like NXTL, PCS and MOT have been holding well.

OT: Mark, did you get some AERL?
