'Technically, breaking below USD265.00 ran out of momentum on the downside and managed to find support at USD263.50. With the RSI currently in the low 20's (24.50) Gold is rapidly reaching oversold levels and it should prove difficult to move much lower in the short term. Strong support at USD263.50 with backup at USD260.00. Resistance is now at USD267.75/268.50 with major resistance at USD270.25. Expect support at USD263.50 to hold any downmove and a correction higher with a target of USD268.50.

For the week ahead, the market is becoming reluctant to pursue the price much lower than current levels, and the number of physical buyers now placing orders below current levels is evidence that expectations of freefall are dwindling. Over the past week, there was evidence that forward tightness between the 6 to 9 month time frame was beginning to appear, in line with Y2K nervousness - this looks set to continue. It remains to be seen whether or not the Investment banks will continue to push the price lower, but even if they have more selling to do they may well wait for the oversold condition to dissipate before the onslaught continues (unless freefall is the aim) - this is especially the case if the source is an official one. While nothing is certain in the Gold market, we expect to see a bounce this week.

Tiller certainly looked well qualified for the position; he boasted not only a bachelor's and master's degree, but also two doctorate degrees.

There was just one problem, city officials later learned. Tiller's resume turned out to be a complete fabrication ... more ... >>
