Thanks for the information on box size.

A lot of indicators like Bollinger bands , 200 day MA , 50 day MA, etc
may be used to give buy and sell signals. P&F is another interesting method. But in every case it would be useful to have some idea of how many false alerts these methods generate. I do not see this done anywhere. I want to have some idea of the past reliability of the signals generated. Otherwise, it seems to me that we are dealing with some form of religion rather than science.

If for example, the method generates 50 % false alerts then it by itself would be marginally useful. You might as well flip a coin to decide your buy- sell-hold action. I do not see this information published anywhere.
