Intel has the luxury of watching Xeon and PIII sales and then determining how much damage to inflict on the low end!!!

In fact they have managed to keep average ASPs solid at north of $200 while they have beat the crap out of AMD and NSM with this approach.

My guess is that their stock price would be much lower if they let AMD/NSM prosper and give them time to build a war chest to attack the high end.

It has been a brilliant strategy and they have executed very well.

NSM folded. AMD has managed to counter them with a better faster core and the prospect of a better 0.18 cu process.

It will be interesting to see how well AMD's counterattack goes in Q3/Q4.
