The problem is hypocrisy. People are allowed to pose as defenders of the weak but actually they had been the offenders themselves. Maybe equally important to the names of individual criminals, but easier to be changed is the situation of a publicly accepted lie, a sentence that is accepted truth to just about everybody - because just about everybody had an interest in believing in it. I previously pointed out that this has happened to knowledge on the behaviour of the German WWII army, especially on the Eastern front. But it may be found in many other situations as well. MNI.
