Okay Joan, I was born at night but not last night. I think many are programmed from childhood to take the Bible literally. The idea being if you dispute any part you are not a believer and will burn in hell for all eternity or maybe not not get a bass to hit your buzz bait or spend the rest of your days in a dentists chair. All bad fates.

What gets me is many fall for an interpretation, what the preacher says. No where does the Bible say 6,000 years ago the Earth was formed but some scholars have traced it back. That's a case where the people are worshiping the word of the scholars and not the Bible.

I like to read so a couple of years ago I read the Bible cover to cover. Took a while and Numbers was boring. In one of the St. Pauls to the Corinthians it says no matter how good or how faithful a woman is if her husband is a sinner she will go to hell. Never heard that one from the pulpit.
