Brazil down 3% today....other Latin markets down BIG in past weeks..all worried about Fed rate hikes... 3 rate hikes would kill these markets and snuff recoveries this year and next....not only would money flow out of the economies (for safety U.S.), but U.S. would no longer taking their less-attractive exports...ouch...Then, they would have to raise rates too....DOUBLE OUCH... No way Fed is going to crush those economies going into Y2K...you think we have exposure?? In Latin America, they REALLY could get hurt by Y2K (growth problems in January and beyond)..add of top of that 3 rate hikes....wow.....one will due the trick..... Bill Gross of PIMCO on CNBC (finally) giving a fairly balanced view...looking for one hike (next Wednesday) and one later in the year......6.5% (worst) on long bond and 2.5% inflation going forward......still a little too bearish for my like...but covering both sides of argument in his interview......finally (someone)..is it so hard?
