AFTER THE BELL - Lycos slips
NEW YORK, June 24 (Reuters) - Lycos shares fell slightly in afterhours trading Thursday, giving back some of the regular session gains that had followed a report that talks over a possible takeover of the Internet portal by Internet venture firm CMGI Inc. (Nasdaq:CMGI - news) had stalled.

Lycos shares rose fell 3/16 to 95-1/4 on the Instinet electronic trading system after closing up 1-15/16 on the Nasdaq Stock Market during the regular session. The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that the talks had stalled because of friction between the two companies' chief executives.

Both companies declined to comment on the report.
