As of the 15th, there were 58,300 short. That's down 114,600 from May 31, when there were 172,000 short. Most of those (156,500) were added in the last two weeks of May, the other 16,400 were added during the previous month.

I suspect the shorts got out of the way when the SD came through. The shorts on the 15th are down at least $60K and maybe a lot more at this point if they haven't covered.

Pretty small position for the volume to absord, so short covering isn't what is keeping it up, although it might have lit the fuse.
