Amen to that.

Anybody seriously think that S3 has a superior product to TDFX? Or that TDFX would try to make a play for them so soon after STBI? What a joke.

I did a quick check on trademark database for "Napalm"- didn't see it. Does anybody even know if this name is legit? Rampage is in the database...I think the whole rumor was a "page fault at The Register"...

Now then, how highly do the folks at nVidia think of themselves? Do they have the confidence to buy out a cardmaker and play it solo? I think they do, and I think that it might well happen. Remember, they are major players in the OEM market- who needs CREAF there? TDFX has them beat at retail- not that TNT2 won't do ok there. But they will do OK just based on the hard core gamer and the hype nVidia creates- not because of the great distribution that CREAF can provide.

Then again, maybe CREAF wants to make a bid...would imagine that nVidia would require a premium to current price- say at least 20%, making the deal worth a cool $600M...I don't think that is going to happen.

So nVidia uses its sick market cap to acquire somebody else...makes a lot of sense for them. I tell you what...it's a good thing we beat them to STBI...

As for the RIO- yup... $40 commodity product in no time at all...well maybe a little time...but it'll still be a low margin commodity product with heavy competition.

As for AURL...I don't think it would be a bad fit long term- but with a current mkt cap of 35M and bleeding money at a remarkable rate...I don't see it happening. Unless they have a significant chunk of cash on hand from the recent stock offering, and overhead expenses that could be chopped...and if the lawsuit really is without merit.
