Okay, Steve, but just bear in mind that the guys who want to change it in the opposite direction are one jump ahead of you.

Remember the Religious Freedom Amendment?

To secure the people's right to acknowledge God according to the
dictates of conscience: The people's right to pray and to recognize
their religious beliefs, heritage or traditions on public property,
including schools, shall not be infringed. The government shall not
require any person to join in prayer or other religious activity,
initiate or designate school prayers, discriminate against religion, or
deny equal access to a benefit on account of religion.

Sounds reasonable, doesn't it? Until you realize that nobody is really infringing upon "the people's right to acknowledge God according to the dictates of conscience."

A majority of the members of the House voted for it: 224 to 203. But it was not the 2/3 majority necessary to carry an Amendment. Good thing, too, IMO.

My feeling is: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
