Thanks for the info Chip...We all know what a jackass this guy is. He wants to know why TDFXers are caustic? Maybe it's because he is a biased jerk that has given TDFX the short end of the stick at every opportunity.

As for his supreme analytical skills in the graphics market, you have to wonder if he has ever heard of "the dummy test" whereby you actually use your BRAIN when analyzing data- to see if your computer output or whatever makes sense. 57 units of sell through? What the hell is that? I remember asking somebody how many cars they thought were in a certain parking lot. They said "a lot. maybe a million"...I don't understand how people cannot apply even the most basic principles of common sense to a given situation...unless they aren't trying.

My God! THIS guy was a VP at Jon Peddie Associates, the premiere "impartial" multimedia market research firm? Personally I thought he was biased just based on his reviews and rants (plus his association with Tom), but that rant takes the cake (and makes Tom look impartial, ughh..., strike that).

That blurb is so unprofessional that I can't believe that even Tom can put up with it. The guy actually has the temerity to blame 3dfx supporters for pointing out his public idiocy when a little research on his part (you know, journalism usually entails getting factual information, credible sources and sometimes even cross-checking sources) would have saved him from being humiliated. Sure we called him on his false numbers. We have a stake in preventing the near slanderous article he published from being swallowed whole by a public that tends to believe everything they read or hear no matter how little credibility a person brings to the article.

I would've thought that having worked at Jon Peddie that this guy would at least TRY to maintain some impartiality. The fact that his is so vehemently against the company makes me wonder if all of Jon Peddie Associates is similar. Thinking back on it, I don't remember them speaking favorable about 3dfx since Voodoo2 came out, yet they are constantly commenting favorably on our competitors. Then again, maybe he was kicked out of JPA.

Thanks to Chip for bringing this to our attention.

I mistakingly read that article when it first came out (clicked on the link without paying attention). I figured the 52 unit comment was a mistake and assumed he meant 52% - which of course didn't jive with his assertion that V3 wasn't selling. In the arrticle he went on about how the 2000, V2 and Banshee were raking in all the sales on the low end and how the high end belonged to nVidia. I sat there totaly mystified as to where he was getting his facts. That I know of TDFX doesn't make a Banshee card - any great low end Banshee sales wouldn't be in their numbers. The V2 (1000) is sold but there's still some non-TDFX boards being liquidated by the retailers so I wouldn't expect lots' of TDFX sales. Nearly all the OEM wins, a great majority of posters, and most of my freinds bought 3000's. 3000's are the hardest to get and most often sold out. His 10K assertion also seems like a total mistake but then I'm not an experienced friggen analyst who maintains a high level of impartiality, objectiveness and fairness in performing a valuable and thorough evaluation of the industry for my readers. I'm just a TDFX junkie who feels emininently qualified "to provide my own data" when those numbers provided by independent sources do not agree with my own political and personal agenda. Joe C.
