NTT Docomo says mulls listing in New York

TOKYO, June 25 (Reuters) - NTT Communications Network Inc (NTT Docomo)
said on Friday it is mulling listing its shares on the New York Stock Exchange.

''Listing in New York Stock Exchange is a subject we are mulling. But we have not decided any specifics such as listing timing or other details,'' a NTT Docomo spokesman said.

The Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun industrial daily reported on Friday NTT Docomo plans to list on the New York Stock Exchange as early as autumn next year.

NTT Docomo plans to obtain a rating from Moody's Investors Service in autumn of this year, the daily said.

It also said the company plans to issue foreign currency-denominated bonds.

Japan's biggest cellular phone operator needs huge funds for capital investment and research and development to market a next-generation cellular phone scheduled for launch in March 2001, the daily said.

Listing in New York and issuing foreign bonds are planned in order to raise such funds, the daily said. NTT Docomo shares traded at 1.68 million yen as of 0102 GMT on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, up 200,000 yen or 13.51 percent.
